Ákos Ezer
b.1989, Budapest, Hungary
Marked by contemporary and art historical references and bright color palettes, Ákos Ezer’s paintings feature elongated and twisted figures that often fill the entire canvas. Intricately intertwined and sometimes blending into smoke, water or everyday objects, they relay the sentiments of young people bewildered by the ever changing and expanding world around them. Replete with hidden metaphors and hints, Ezer’s paintings portray universally relatable subjects grappling with their societal roles with humility and humor.
Ákos Ezer graduated in 2010 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. His work has been shown in museums, galleries and art fairs internationally, such as Kiscell Museum and Museum Ludwig in Budapest, Künstlerhaus Halle für Kunst & Medien in Halle, Germany, Galerie Droste in Paris and Dusseldorf, Aishonanzuka in Hong Kong, New Budapest Gallery, Tanja Pol in Munich and Beers Gallery in London, among others. In 2017, he was granted the Esterházy Art Award. The artist currently lives and works in Hungary.
