For decades, Deborah Brown has happily labored away at paintings of color-drenched cityscapes and nature subjects. Here, she zeroes in on her home city of New York, giving us detailed scenes of markets, streets, trinket shops, and all the jigsaw texture that makes up our mad gorgoeus metropolis. Her shadow image stands in for her always-watching observational presence.
